Seatruck opening new freight service

Seatruck Ferries is to roll out the next phase of its Irish Sea development plan with a new freight only ferry route between Dublin and Heysham.

The new service will complement the existing Seatruck services Warrenpoint – Heysham, Larne - Heysham and Dublin – Liverpool, adding a new link for customers serving Southern Ireland.

Initiating the service will be the chartered vessel Anglia Seaways offering 120 unit capacity together with accommodation for 12 drivers. The vessel will provide 02:00 hrs departures from Heysham and 14:00 hrs departures from Dublin. The vessel has a proven track record on the Irish Sea.

To cope with the additional business on the existing Liverpool route Seatruck will soon be moving to another larger terminal within Dublin Port.

This new freight route will complement the other Seatruck services, increasing weekly departures to 82.

The first sailing for the new service is expected to depart the week commencing Monday 14th February.

“Seatruck continues to grow and it is clear that our independent freight only model is winning more and more support. The Warrenpoint, Dublin and Larne services have seen solid increases in traffic levels over the last 6 months since the full introduction of our new larger tonnage.

By offering a new service from Heysham, Seatruck believes that it will further enhance the ‘hub’ effect of this key drop trailer port. By arriving in Dublin from Heysham the Seatruck model will be available to traffic flows that previously were unable to take full advantage of our service.

The current Seatruck fleet of 8 ro/ro’s will be supplemented with 4 more new vessels in 2012 from our German new building project”
